most of thoes pictures are of animals fighting. You're interpreting these animal pictures based as affection because they are taken out of context.

This is very sweet. I like animals too, they are very tasty.

Do you know that you are using copyrighted pictures without asking permission?

The picture of the two lions is actually mine!

http://www.flickr.com/photos/fanz/134271077/

Could you please give credits and link to my flickr page or remove the picture??
I really don't like this kind of behaviour.

Hi François
I will give credits and link to your flickr page as soon as possible. Now blogger doesn't let me to do this, I think it would take 1-2 days
Francois said…
Ok thanks!

But usually it's better to ask beforehand.
Try to do that in the future because you could get in trouble for that.

Best regards,

Francois

User submitted pics on Flickr are copywritten?

like the man said in "stripes"...

lighten up francois.

To the anonymous person thinking these are violent pictures: u sir/ma'am, are dumb. highly unlikely but tops 2 or 3 pictures were taken during a playful fight or anything in that genre. There is clearly no sense of any violence in these pictures.. concluding you are dumb.

to Francois: people will be using your pics, with or without your consent.. so stop your bitching.

Francois if you don't have a copyright on that picture you are SOL!!

I love this!! It is ssooooo cute :)

they're not even your pics! so stop whinging about copyright...

if you don't want people to take them, put a stamp on them

These are very cute pictures and no they are not taken out of context. You can very clearly look at these pictures and tell they are not fighting. However, several of you need to lighten up. Francois has a very good point and I think he went about it in a very nice, professional manner. He is obviously a photographer, whether as a professional or hobby and he has the right to expect credit for his work. Whoever compiled these images, although may have had good intentions, knew what they were doing when they took these images without permission. F.Y.I. I have seen the original photo of the mini-monkeys and it DID have a photo credit stamped on it. A stamp that anyone with Photoshop can easily clone out or crop out as was done with this image.

Beautiful photos. To Anonymous's comment that "Most of these pictures are of animals fighting.." There are no aggressive postures in any of these photos, i.e., teeth baring, snarling, etc. This is typical ritualistic mating behavior. Birds preening, animals exhibiting submissive postures, etc. You clearly need to watch more National Geographic and Animal Planet.

Francois, did you get permission from the animals to shoot them, huh? Huh? Lighten up dude I right-clicked them all and will be sending them to friends in a pdf file.

So my favorite are the Sea Horses and the hugging reptiles. Awwwwwwwwww.

These are all very Beautiful!

To those of you 'bitching' at the poor *rightful* OWNER of that photo, you obviously have never spent time to create something using your own talent, never been so proud of something and then just had it ripped off by someone quite so blatently. It's not only ilegal but its just wrong.

It's an easy mistake to make, just using any photo you may find but I swear if i caught someone using my pictures without permission and I got this attitude back...

As the issue was obviously solved between the original poster and the owner of the photo, the harsh comments were hardly necessary.

Yes lovely STOLEN photos... you should include links back to the rightful owners of these flickr pics.

A number of other images in this blog entry are taken from elsewhere. The first penguin image is from the BBC as are a couple of the others. Elsewhere on this blog are copyright images from professional photographers and news agencies, adding a credit as to who they were stolen from does not absolve the blogger of theft.

In any case it doesn't appear that the issue is resolved between the two.

First, I post with my real name and don't hide behind anonymous. Yeah, I was having a go at Frenchy because it's light hearted stuff.

Others of you without names choose to take some righteous, PC fork in the road and immediately jump to conclusions that others of us aren't creative.

I've written over 500 songs, three movies, a tv pilot, and four books, and the only thing registered was one of the books. And yeah, I made lots of bucks for that stuff and I don't care who steals it.

Detachment man. Few years of dancing on Gaia and then your gone and no one really cares or should...it's just some pics of animals, keep it real.

Great blog, but c'mon... The guy who took the pic of the lion's was polite in how he dealt with his image being here.

If I had taken the image, I wouldn't want it here without my permission. Asking permission first is just polite.

Theft is theft. Should one take FSF or wikipedia content and not provide proper link backs, attributions, or comply with any of the other licence conditions you can be sure that the FSF lawyers will be activated.

In most cases of images people will allow use if asked nicely, but stuff that you happen to find on the web is not there for you to take.
